{"id":419,"date":"2014-03-27T08:30:30","date_gmt":"2014-03-27T15:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/?p=419"},"modified":"2014-06-05T22:51:52","modified_gmt":"2014-06-06T05:51:52","slug":"gluten-free-oat-free-granola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/?p=419","title":{"rendered":"Gluten Free, Oat Free Granola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gluten Free Oats came onto the market a few years ago, and&nbsp;opened up many new&nbsp;options for those who are gluten intolerant.&nbsp; However, if you are like&nbsp;the love of my life, even gluten free oats make you feel sick and if that happens, sadly&nbsp;granola is off limits.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;If this happens to you too&nbsp;and you are craving the crunchy, sweet taste of granola, this recipe is a wonderful alternative.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Side-View-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-422\" alt=\"Granola Side View 2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Side-View-2-680x453.jpg\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Side-View-2-680x453.jpg 680w, http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Side-View-2-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Side-View-2-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oats are what give granola that crunch factor, but as this was off limits, a replacement was needed.&nbsp;&nbsp; I ended up deciding on Rice Flakes and Quinoa Flakes.&nbsp;&nbsp; My love had tasted a muesli in Australia the last time we visited, and it was based around rice flakes.&nbsp;&nbsp; I came home full of enthusiasm to make my own, only to find I couldn&#8217;t find rice flakes at the supermarkets.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; After much procrastination (should I mention it&#8217;s been nearly two years since we lasted visited our families &#8211; yes I&#8217;ve procrastinated that long!) I decided to order some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00CYV2HPY\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00CYV2HPY&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=cookorbisc-20\">Rice Flakes<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" style=\"margin: 0px !important; border: currentColor !important; border-image: none !important !important;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=cookorbisc-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B00CYV2HPY\" border=\"0\"> online.&nbsp;&nbsp; Rice flakes are different from the breakfast&nbsp;cereal called Sweetened Rice Flakes.&nbsp;&nbsp; The only ingredient in rice flakes is &#8230;&nbsp;brown rice flakes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Ingredients.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-424\" alt=\"Granola Ingredients\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Ingredients-680x453.jpg\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Ingredients-680x453.jpg 680w, http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Ingredients-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Granola-Ingredients-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This granola is made the same way as any homemade granola. Oil and sweeteners are heated and mixed together then poured over the dry ingredients. The granola is then baked in an oven at a low temperature. What he really wanted was muesli, so when the granola is gone I&#8217;m going to be adapting this recipe to reduce the sugar and make a muesli. Add the maple syrup, honey and vanilla to the saucepan and stir to combine.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\">Pour the liquid over the dry ingredients and stir until all the ingredients are coated with the syrup.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\">Spread the granola thinly and evenly on each of cookie sheets.   Place the cookie sheets in the oven.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"5\">After 10 minutes, toss the granola to ensure even cooking.  Cook for another 10 minutes, or until the granola is a light golden color.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"6\">Remove the cookie sheets from the oven.   Sprinkle the raisins and apricots over the hot granola.
