{"id":1770,"date":"2014-09-29T07:39:09","date_gmt":"2014-09-29T14:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/?p=1770"},"modified":"2014-11-23T22:40:18","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T06:40:18","slug":"popovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/?p=1770","title":{"rendered":"Popovers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Popovers are another food which I had never heard of until I moved to America. &nbsp; &nbsp;It must be something about the word &#8220;pop&#8221;. &nbsp; Popovers, Poptarts, Popsicles were all new foods or words&nbsp;when I first moved. &nbsp; Even &#8220;Pop&#8221; in reference to soft drinks\/soda was a new word. &nbsp; I first discovered popovers in my favorite children&#8217;s cookbook &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0848727800\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0848727800&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=cookorbisc-20&amp;linkId=XO4BKJAZFLKNFKN6\">Williams Sonoma Kids Baking<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=cookorbisc-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0848727800\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\">&nbsp;and this recipe is adapted from theirs. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1774\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Popover-with-Jam-680x453.jpg\" alt=\"Popover with Jam\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Popover-with-Jam-680x453.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Popover-with-Jam-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Popover-with-Jam-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Popovers remind me of a baked pancake in terms of the ingredients and taste &#8211; but then&nbsp;popovers change the game by being&nbsp;muffin shaped, hollow inside, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Apparently they are similar to Yorkshire pudding, however I have never eaten Yorkshire pudding to be able to confirm that!<\/p>\n<p>In America, they are usually eaten as a breakfast food and served with butter, jam or honey. &nbsp;&nbsp;My kids love to eat their popovers with honey, but I personally prefer the jam!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1772\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Freshly-Baked-Popovers-453x680.jpg\" alt=\"Freshly Baked Popovers\" width=\"453\" height=\"680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Freshly-Baked-Popovers-453x680.jpg 453w, https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Freshly-Baked-Popovers-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.cookiesorbiscuits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Freshly-Baked-Popovers-600x900.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 453px) 100vw, 453px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I make my batter in a blender &#8211; it&#8217;s quick and combines the ingredients perfectly. Heavily grease a 12 cup muffin tin with butter or cooking spray.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"1\">In a blender, combine the eggs, milk and melted coconut oil.   Put on the lid and blend on medium for a few seconds until the ingredients are blended.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"2\">Turn off the blender, then add the flour and salt.   Re-cover and blend for about 10-15 seconds until the batter is combined.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"3\">Pour the batter evenly into the prepared muffin tins, filling each cup to about 2\/3 full.<\/li>\t\t\t\t<li class=\"blog-yumprint-method-item\" yumprintitem=\"4\">Bake in the oven for 28-30 minutes or until the popovers are puffed and well browned.
